Full stack Developer (Angular, Node, MySQL, Twilio API) with some devops skills (AWS/OCI)   We are a car purchasing app and need someone to join our team full time to help maintain and build future iterations.  We're currently using OCI for most server requirements, but also deal with a healthy amount of third party APIs for data feeds.  There is a LOT of data that needs to be managed.   We have an existing team that you will be working with, so you must be comfortable with legacy code and inheriting a significant codebase.  You must be an expert at integrating third party APIs as well as continuing to build our own internal APIs. Any knowledge of cars and the car market will be very helpful.  There are a lot of different moving pieces and data normalization that needs to be done, so you MUST have previous experience dealing with large disparate data sets. Attention to detail and clear communication are key skills that the successful candidate will have.  You should also be able to creatively solve complex problems and offer elegant solutions.  Documentation should be something that you do naturally - both at a code level as well as added documentation such as Confluence/Google Docs/Etc.   Current technologies that we use include:
  • OCI functions and services, including kubernetes
  • Twilio (Voice and SMS)
  • Typescript
  • Laravel
  • CoffeeScript
  • Angular
  • node.js
  • RESTful APIs
  • MySQL
  • Zimbra (or other hosted email services)
  • GitHub
  • Sentry
  • Google Analytics
  • Segment
  • Appsflyer
  • Hubspot or similar CRM solutions, including workflows and automation
You do not need to be proficient in all of these technologies, but higher proficiency in at least a handful is what we are looking for.   You MUST have a high level proficiency in ALL of the following:
  • Laravel
  • Agile
  • CoffeeScript
  • Angular/TypeScript
  • MySQL
  • CI/CD
  • GitHub
Please note that you will be required to participate in technical evaluation to qualify your technical skill levels in key areas as well as provide samples of documentation you've created (both technical and non technical). To apply and ensure that you've fully read the requirements, please let me know the TOP 3 projects that you've worked on and your role in those projects (i.e. lead developer, sole developer, etc).  Please also make sure to include the rating for each of the required skillsets as outlined above. In your application, please acknowledge that you are comfortable with ALL of these and rate yourself from 1-10 for each of the following below.  Any applications that do not include these will not be considered.
  1. Typescript
  2. Angular
  3. Laravel
  4. Coffeescript
  5. OCI
    1. Instances
    2. DB System
    3. IAM and roles/permissions

About the Job The QA Lead will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of CarBlip’s development pipelines are properly tested.  This will be accomplished with a combination of manual and automated testing – for both browser and mobile based platforms.  Deployment testing, tied to our CI/CD pipeline will also be a key component of testing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be an expert in both Selenium and Appium, and have used cloud based platforms like SauceLabs, Browser Stack, or similar.  The ability to think dynamically is a must, as creating test scripts that are both fast and effective are expected.  For example, being able to click on 500 vehicle selections on a single page should not involve having to write code for 500 different click actions in order to automate testing. Must haves:
  • Automation testing for native apps on both Android and iOS devices
  • Automation testing for web apps
  • API testing
  • Selenium and Appium
  • Python or Javascript
  • Load/Stress testing
  • Packet sniffers (open to your preference)
Candidates are expected to be very familiar with different mobile, front-end, database, and back-end technologies.  They should also be competent with packet sniffers and different tools to access technical troubleshooting data and help the engineering team isolate problems. As this is a remote role, you will need to have your own iPhone and a reliable internet connection for testing, as the primary product is an iOS app. Attention to detail and accuracy are absolutely critical for this role and only those that are comfortable being tested for this should apply. To apply, please include your responses to the following questions in your cover letter:
  1. What are the 2 most critical qualities you must have for this role?
  2. Please provide a rough time estimate for the following sample task: - You are required to create an automated script that will test the front end for this page: https://shop.carblip.com/find-my-car/model?brand=39&year=2023 - For the purpose of this exercise, please do NOT include any time for setting up the project, any frameworks, etc. You should include time for ONLY what is requested. - Your script should click on each car.  The script must be dynamic to change, depending on how many vehicles there are, as there can be as few as 1 car, or as many as hundreds of cars. - Record the name of the car and whether the car’s page loaded successfully or not - The script should not include any other testing nor any other pages
  3. What is your expected annual salary or hourly rate?
  4. Do you have an Upwork account? If so, please provide a link to your profile.  Please note that anyone outside of the US will be required to have an Upwork profile to be considered.
We are not currently looking to work with any recruiters or agencies for hiring this role, so only individual applicants will be considered.  All other inquiries will be deleted.
